About the Pastor

Rev. Dr. Tyrone B. Martin

Reverend Dr. Tyrone B. Martin hails from Washington, DC and is the middle son born to Mrs. Ruby Martin and the late Tracy Martin. Dr. Martin was baptized in 1972 at St. Matthews Baptist Church, under the leadership of Dr. Maxwell M. Washington. His foundation in Biblical truths and church leadership were developed under the leadership of Pastor Washington.

Being an avid learner, Pastor Martin has forged ahead in educational pursuits. He began his college career at Cheney State University, Cheney, Pennsylvania where he studied Business Marketing. He later studied at Glynco Federal Law Enforcement Center in New Brunswick, Georgia obtaining a certificate in Federal Law Enforcement.

Pastor Martin matriculated at Shaw University, Raleigh, North Carolina obtaining a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Religion and Philosophy. He furthered his education at Gardner-Webb University, Shelby, North Carolina in the Masters of Divinity program. He continued his pursuits obtaining a Masters of Theology from Andersonville Baptist Seminary, Camilla, Georgia. Never tiring from the world of academia he furthered his studies in completing a Masters in Christian Counseling from Apex School of Theology, Apex, North Carolina. For his contributions in pastoral leadership and missions in the state of North Carolina, Apex School of Theology conferred upon him the Doctorate of Divinity.

In 2018, Pastor Martin completed the Doctor of Ministry degree at United Theological Seminary, Dayton, Ohio. His project, “Reconnecting the Church and Community through Evangelism

and Outreach” earned him the Outstanding Doctor of Ministry Project Award in the Proclamation of the Gospel.

Reverend Dr. Tyrone B. Martin has been in ministry since 1989 when he was licensed to preach at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Bowling Green, South Carolina. He was ordained by the Wake Missionary Baptist Association, Raleigh, North Carolina in January, 1996.

The journey in pastoral leadership began when he accepted the call to pastor Jones Chapel Missionary Baptist Church (later named Now Faith Community Baptist Church) Knightdale, North Carolina in May,1996. Pastor Martin led the church until November 2001 when he received a new assignment. Pastor Martin became the pastor of Greater Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, Mount Clemens, Michigan November 2001 and has led the congregation for over 19 years.

Pastor Martin is very active in the community as a past president of the Interfaith Community for Racial Justice and as a member of the Macomb Ministerial Alliance. He currently serves as the Dean of Congress for the New Life Baptist District Association and a member of the Baptist, Missionaries and Educational Convention of the State of Michigan.

Reverend Dr. Tyrone B Martin and the late Saketha Martin are the proud parents of two beautiful daughters, Angelia and Jadyn.
